The Innovations Award

Mon, 15/09/2008 - 14:25

The UCL Innovations Award is our way of recognising the hard work you’ve put in as a Project Leader.

To qualify you’ll need to complete 30 hours of volunteering as a leader (which can include planning activities).

You’ll also need to write a 300 – 500 word reflective piece about your experience identifying what you’ve learnt.

Reflective Writing

There is no fixed structure for your piece, though some of the points you might want to consider are:

  • * Write a bit about what you and your volunteers actually did (e.g. running debating workshops for secondary school students, befriending refugee families in West London, etc.). Try to be specific.

  • You don't have to address all of these, and you’re free to pursue ideas for other topics.

    UCL Key Skills

You might also want to make use of UCL’s Key Skills System which will help you to think more about your skills, the evidence you have for them and will help you plan how to develop important areas further. Access it through PORTICO and then click on the Key Skills tab at the top of the page. For more information about the system see www.ucl.ac.uk/keyskills

UCLU Innovations Project of The Year

We will also be giving an award to the best student-led project of the year, judged in terms of :
    • - The impact you’ve made
    • - How well you’ve planned and organised the project
    • - How well you’ve evaluated it
    • - How well you’ve managed your volunteers

Email Dee Davis for a nomination form at d.davis@ucl.ac.uk

UCLU Volunteering Society of The Year

We would like to recognise the contribution Clubs and Societies make to the community through volunteer activities.

If your Club or Society has done any volunteer work in 2009-2010, including ongoing projects or one-off events, we would like to encourage you to nominate for this award.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to recognise the work your members have done and inspire other Clubs and Societies to volunteer.
